When Henry Hutchins Haviland was born on March 16, 1825, in Harrison, Kentucky, his father, Robert, was 28 and his mother, Mary, was 26. He married Susan Terrell Scroggin on May 19, 1868, in Midway, Kentucky. They had one child during their marriage. He died on March 2, 1910, in Cynthiana, Kentucky, having lived a long life of 84 years, and was buried there.
