Formed on December 21, 1793, from parts of Bourbon and Scott counties, Harrison County is the 17th Kentucky county, named for Col. Benjamin Harrison

. The county seat, Cynthiana, was established the same year on land donated by settler Robert Harrison, named for his daughters, Cynthia and Anna. It is known as “The Maiden City”.
