This Indenture made this 17th day of February 1853 between Wm B. Glave Sheriff of Harrison County in the State of Kentucky of the one part and Robert S. Haviland of the County and State aforesaid of the other part Witnesseth that whereas a certain Marion Ritchie said out of the Clerks office of the Harrison Circuit Court a writ of fiere facias against the estate of Jno R Whitaker and Wm Patton for the sum of seventy eight dollars debt with interest thereon from the 30th day of October 1850 also forty five cents costs bearing date the 5th day of February 1851 returnable to the April Rules 1851 of said Judicial Court , which as fieri facias was directed to the sheriff of said county , and was delivered to Wm B. Glave who was at that time an acting Deputy Sheriff S. B. Curran Sheriff of said county and the said deputy sheriff by virtue of the fire facias aforesaid levied the same on a certain piece or parcel of land as the estate of William Patton and did on the 14th day of April 1851 affer the same for sale to the highest bidder , and there being in bidder the writ was returned to the Office from whence it issued with the following return to wit “The within named property was offered agreeable to advertisement and was not sold for the want of a bidder 14th April 1851 “
Whereupon a Venditio Exponas issued from said Office bearing date , the 7th day of June 1851 which was directed and delivered to the Sheriff of Harrison County and came to the hands of Wm B. Glave at that time Sheriff of said County who by virtue of said Venditio Exponas on the 9th day of June 1857 . at the Court House in Cynthiana ; expose the said land to public Sale to the highest bidder and Robert S. Haviland being the highest bidder become the purchaser at the sum of of eighty five Dollars and ninety five cents. Therefore to confirm the said purchase to the said Robert S Haveland so as aforesaid ; made.
This Indenture witnesseth that the said Wm B. Glave Sheriff of the County aforesaid for and in consideration of the sum of $85 95/100 to his in hand paid by the said Robert S Haviland ; the receipt whereof is hereby acknowledged , hath given granted bargained sold released conveyed and confirmed , and by these presents does give , grant , bargain all release convey and confirm unto the said tract or parcel of land situate in the County aforesaid on the waters of Richland Creek and bounded as follows tract. Beginning at a black on the North side of the Falmouth road leading from Claysville thence N 2 W 59 poles with Joseph? Fightmaster line to a hickory and two red oakes thence N 7 W 30 poles and 11 links to a small ash red oak thence S 73 W 121 poles to a rock on a hill thence S 28 W 83 poles and 6 links to a small hickory Corner to McKee thence S 79 E 38 poles to a Sugartree thence N 74 E 30 poles and 2 links to a hickory and two red oaks thence E 54 poles & 10 links to a white oak near a road thence N 54 ½ E 19 poles and 13 links to a stake at the corner of the school house lot thence N 54 ½ W 10 poles to a Suga tree – thence N 54 ½ E 16 poles to the Beginning ; containing eighty four acres to the Beginning ; To have and to hold all and singular the above granted & bargained premises and appurtenances to the said Robert S Haviland his heirs and assigns forever , in as full and ample a manne or as I the said William B. Glave , by virtue of the authority aforesaid ; might convey or ought to convey the same; In testimony whereof I the said W. B. Glave Sheriff aforesaid and no otherwise hereunto set my hand and seal the day and date above written W B. Glave

I Perry Wherritt Clerk of the county court of said County certify that this Deed from W. B . Glave Sheriff of Harrison County to Robert S. Haviland was on the 9th September 1853 produced and acknowledged before me by the said Glave , Sheriff , as aforesaid , to be his act and deed ; Whereupon said Deed with this certificate hath duly recorded in my office Given under my hand this 28th October
