The fact that Judge George William Lail is serving his second term as County Judge of Harrison county, Ky., attests to his popularity as a man, and capabilities as a judge. Judge Lail was born in Harrison county, October 23, 1838, was engaged in tilling the soil when the call to arms was heard, heeding the call he enlisted in Company C, 1st Kentucky Infantry, and served four years, entering with rank of Corporal, afterward being promoted to Second Lieutenant. His first enlistment was in the Army of East Virginia under Generals J. E. Johnston and Beuregard, afterward in the Department of East Tennessee and South-west Virginia under Col. Thomas Johnson of Mt. Sterling, Ky. After the close of the war he returned to his native county where he has since resided.
